Race Preview: 2018 Deschutes River Half Marathon & 2.018 miler (Maupin)

Maupin is a sleepy little town that sits in a canyon along the banks of the Deschutes River, just 40 miles south of The Dalles. The area has been well-known for guided rafting trips for many years but outside of that, this berg of 420 people remains fairly quiet. However, on New Year’s Day, X-Dog Events puts on the Deschutes River Half Marathon that follows and then finishes alongside the river.

The spotlight of this event might seem to be the half marathon, but the fun event is the 2.018 run/walk that allows participants to dress up and have some fun ringing in the new year with a little exercise! And while the weather might be cold, it is usually clear, making this something for the whole family. So, bring the kids, the dog, and even gramma, out to this great way to kick off the new year!

When: Monday, January 1st, 2018. Half marathon starts at 9:00 am (shuttle leaves at 8:30). 2.018 run/walk starts at 10:00 am.

Where: Registration, check-in and finishes take place at The Imperial River Company in Maupin, which is just 40 minutes south of The Dalles on Hwy 197.

Cost: Half marathon = $60.00 (includes shirt & medal for finishers). 2.018 run/walk = $20.18 (t-shirts available for purchase)

Register: Day of race registration is available starting at 7:00 am at The Imperial River Company, or online through
