Race Preview: 2018 ORRC Y2K Half & 10K (Forest Grove)

The Oregon Road Runners Club’s Y2K Run in Forest Grove will be on Saturday, January 6th, and is a great run for kicking off your 2018 race calendar. Runners will enjoy a little tour of Forest Grove neighborhoods before snaking out to the lovely rolling (er, hilly) wine country. Afterwards, as always, enjoy a post-race pancake breakfast!

There will be aid stations with water and Gatorade available at miles 2, 4, 6, 7.5, 9.5 & 11.5 for the half marathon and miles 2 and 4.5 for the 10K. Gels and snacks will be available at later half marathon stations.

Plaques will be given to the overall male, female, and masters winners of the half marathon run and the 10k run and walk. Ribbons for the top five female and male finishers in each 5-year age group in each race will also be given, as well as finisher’s medals for every runner. A custom-designed Y2K stadium blanket is included in the half marathon fee. The blanket is not included in registration fee for the 10K, but is available for an addition $10.

The Y2K events are always a great time – but bear in mind that it’s January running so be prepared for all sorts of weather! The year I ran was upper 30’s but sunny and lovely. Last year was cold, with snow at the end!
