What Run Oregon is Wearing: Socks from Feetures! and Balega

At Run Oregon we believe that our feet are our most valuable asset. That’s why we care about products that assist with keeping us comfortable and on the move. We recently reviewed some socks from Feetures! and Balega.

Most runners out there have heard of Feetures! before. They make a variety of different running socks, with different cushion levels, heights, and styles. They are a staple in the running world. I am a firm believer in the fact that our feet need to be as comfortable as possible ALL the time, regardless of if we are running or not that’s why we have reviewed a handful of non-running shoes and sandals over the years.

Men’s Uptown Ultra Light Crew

Feetures! new collection seems to have that same idea in mind, as they have created their Everyday Socks for both men and women, by taking the same support and comfort in their running options and adding into footwear for everyday use. I have tried out a few of these pairs and can attest to how great they are. Here’s some of the socks from the website:

  • Targeted Compression offers zone-specific compression where you need it most for superior comfort and support.
  • Anatomical design ensures uniquely conforming fit to the structure of your individual foot, providing an enhanced level of fit and reduced risk of blisters.
  • Ultra thin construction takes up minimal room inside the shoe.
  • iWick fibers wick moisture to keep feet cool and dry.
  • The Perfect Toe® (No irritating toe seam)
  • Classic crew length

I have long grappled with dress socks that look great and match my style, yet are super thin, or just not at all supportive or comfortable. Both pairs are made from different blends of polyester, nylon, and spandex and fit great. My feet appreciated the familiar feeling and support of running socks, and I think I looked pretty great at the same time.

Nikki: As a runner, I believe good socks make all the difference between a good run and a bad run some days. I love Balega socks because they are clearly a quality product that you can feel from the moment you put them on. They have some really great cushioning, but they never feel overly thick like some socks with padding. The Hidden Comfort socks I wore had a medium level of cushion and volume (fit) according to the indicator on the side of the packaging, and they were super cute too. One sock said “be the” and the other sock said “spark” across the front of the toes. Inspirational! My feet don’t sweat excessively in Balegas, but they stay dry on days like the 11 miler I recently took them on in the mud and rain. They are also soft and cozy and honestly, I don’t notice I have them on my feet at all, which is the true mark of a good running sock, in my opinion. I would recommend these socks to anyone.

Annette: I am all about quality running socks. I have tried many different brands and I have unofficially declared Balega to be the sock of the year! I was super excited to receive a pair of Balega’s Words of Grit and Grace socks. $1 from every pair of these limited edition socks goes to Breast Cancer Prevention Partners. All of these socks have inspirational words on them. Mine said “rewrite the rules” and came in a cheerful pink/berry color combination. Inspirational words and helping prevent breast cancer are wonderful, but when combined with a high quality product, both of those things go even further in my opinion. The Balega Words of Grit and Grace Socks are no show socks that fit snugly, stay put, prevent blisters, and have a great cushy feel to them. What’s not to like? I recommend you get a pair soon. After all, they are limited edition!

Geli: I love good socks! The stereotype that socks are a boring gift is definitely not true for me. And among running socks, Balega have become my absolute favorites. I recently got to try out the new “Silver” sock, which, as the name suggests, includes fibers that are encapsulated in silver ions for its antimicrobial properties. While the socks have all the features I’ve come to love (good fit, no irritating seams, heel tab, heel and pad cushion), the Silver Performance sock also comes with compressive arch support bands, giving your mid-foot an extra snug fit and support. Regarding the fit of the socks, I never have to worry about adjusting them, whether I wear them for a run or to work all day, and I’m looking forward to the benefits of the antimicrobial no-smell silver socks!
