Have you ever been to Coos Bay, OR? It’s a small, sleepy little town (I should know since I spent many summers there with my father as a child) and you would probably never guess that it’s the birthplace of one of the greatest runners of all time, Steve Prefontaine. Come check it out for yourself on December 9th for Mac’s Run.
This event, hosted by RacePlace, will be at Sunset Bay State Park in Coos Bay, and you can choose to run either the 5k or 10k race at 10:00AM. Registration the day of the race will occur at the Yurt near the bathrooms at the south end of the beach. You can also sign up online, register in person, or send in your registration by mail.
This race is described as a “hilly and challenging course with breathtaking ocean views.” I personally prefer hilly, scenic races to flat, boring routes, so if you are that kind of runner, this could be a great chance for that! Also, the route is entirely on paved roads, so that should help. There will be a membership meeting following the awards if you would like to hear more about how to get involved.
