I am guessing that most of us Oregonians and Washingtonians have a variety of weather-related jackets in our closets. From running jackets, to snow jackets, to rain jackets – it’s just necessary to have a few on hand. MINIM, a company based right here in Portland, is combining the benefits of two styles – the comfort of a fleece and the performance of a rain coat – in their new jacket, called Method. So what makes this jacket unique?
- Hidden inside our fleece is a waterproof membrane to keep you dry without the rigid feeling of rain gear.
- Because we used brushed fleece rather than typical woven fabric, our jackets stretch up to 3x more than typical outwear garments.
- Comfort matters. That’s why our tech-fleece is made from ultra-soft brushed polyester. Stay warm. Stay dry. Stay cozy.
We were sent a sample jacket to try out for a week and we really liked what it offered. In my opinion, it does exactly what it sets out to do – “blend the functionality of outerwear with the comfort and style of common fleece garments”. At first wear it looks and feels just like a fleece jacket – soft to the touch and warm and cozy against the body. It fits with a slimmer, tailored sizing so if you are looking for a little more room you may want to size up. However, the waist is a bit more tapered so it’s not too constricting. It’s definitely a comfy top.
It has other necessary features, such as waterproof zippers, zipped pockets, a longer neck, cinches, and vents, which lead to to a really warm and weather-resistent piece of apparel. The Kickstarter campaign has a few styles (zip-up and pullover) and colors (black and grey) available.
