If you are looking for a gorgeous run at the Oregon Coast, the Newport Bay to Brews is the one to do. Previously, this race was only for the 10K and Half Marathoners, but new in 2017, they have added a 5K. If you have ever done a Run with Paula race, you know these races are well organized and a lot of fun and this race is no exception. Held on October 14, 2017, this race starts begins at the Rogue Ales and Spirits in Newport.
The 10K and Half Marathon complete a loop course consisting of stunning scenery and a flat, fast course. Starting at the brewery, the race follows the bay past the famous Newport Aquarium and up to a gorgeous forested trail. This forested trail is a slight uphill for about a mile until you meet a road that will take you on a nice recovery downhill. Cross the Hwy 101 and run along the ocean at South Beach State Park before hitting a quick out and back on Jetty Road and then across the bridge to the finish OR continue to your second loop if you are doing the Half Marathon.
For 5K runners, the course is a beautiful out and back with breathtaking views.
This race includes a very cute technical race shirt and a finishing medal as well as all the benefits of the after party.
The after party is held at Rogue, where you can enjoy any number of their delicious beers including their seasonal pumpkin beer. You will also get to dine on Mo’s famous clam chowder (and get a free burger and beer with entry) while dancing along to a DJ. Stay after and go to the Newport Aquarium with a $10 off coupon for all runners.
There is no better way to enjoy the Oregon Coast than by running this race. With highlights of our beautiful scenery, tastes of our craft beers, and spoonfuls of our delicious seafood, this is the full coast experience.
