Kickin’ it in the Brooks Glycerin 15

Shoes are literally the foundation of a good run. Every runner is built differently and will have a different preference for shoes. I have tried several different brands over the course of my running years, and I tend to stick with one kind for as long as my feet are happy in it. Last year, I was fortunate to have the chance to test out the Brooks Glycerin 14 shoe, which I was very happy with. This summer, I have been testing its follow-on, the Brooks Glycerin 15, and again my feet are thanking me for the great fitting shoe. I’m not even sure that I can convey in this review how much I love these shoes!

My main foot issues over the past few year have been plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis, and either will flare up if I don’t carefully select my footwear. The Glycerin 15 needed almost no break-in time. The sole is springy, the arch supports without hurting, the toe box is wide enough to not crowd my toes too much, my heel is supported softly from underneath, and the heel box hugs my heel and Achilles’ tendon gently without pressure points. The heel to toe drop is 10mm, which is the highest drop I have been able to find recently. (Many of my foot problems started when my favorite shoe quietly changed from a 12mm drop to 8mm.)

Overall, I really like these shoes. They fit my feet well, and the changes from the 14 to 15 was done in a way that only improved them.
