Races on our Radar #39 – Lots of Low-Cost Races in This Edition

Here’s what Run Oregon has been keeping an eye on this week. Remember, if you know a good low-cost race, a really cool small event, an important registration deadline, or other fun running news, please send it our way so we can share it with our readers!

  • Free event: This Thursday is the Discovery Run at Road Runner Sports Tualatin. Remember, this is a free group run/walk where you get raffle tickets at various checkpoints and could win great prizes like running socks or even a pair of shoes! • Cool race for a great cause: The Mad Hatter Run 5k in Salem is this Saturday, September 30 at Wallace Marine Park. • Want to get muddy? Or watch others do so? The first Stumptown XC race is Saturday, September 30 at Portland Meadows. XC races are a ton of fun to race or watch, and at $20 it’s a pretty good deal. Online registration closes at 6p on Friday.

  • Cheap race alert: Adults can sign up online for the Great Pumpkin Race 5k (in Bend) for $20 (it’s $25 DOR). The run is on Saturday, October 7 and support Elk Meadow Elementary’s Integrated Arts Program.

About Kelly Barten (773 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
