Race Preview: 2017 SD’s Down & Dirty Half and 10k (Bend)

Super Dave’s Down & Dirty Half by Superfit Productions has been on my to-do list for several years now and I just can’t seem to keep that weekend open to make it happen. Will someone please go run this and tell me it’s as incredible as it sounds!?

Hills, singletrack, dirt roads, and, a trail runner’s dream: negative splits! This course prides itself on being “tough”, and every race report confirms it. The half marathon is a loop with the first 6.5 miles running uphill. While negative splits are promised, they’re also throwing in a few “surprises”, so save your legs! The 10k is an out and back along the same course, just an earlier turn around.

Both courses will have aid stations with water and electrolytes drinks. There is also a strict 4 hour cutoff and runners must accept a ride to the finish if asked. Rumor has it that there are Deschutes Brewing beers at the end! In addition, awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female, as well as overall master, master male and female.

Need a place to stay? Spend the night right at the start line at 7th Mountain Resort – they’re giving participants a special rate!
