Race Preview: 2017 Run For Humanity 5K & 10K (Champoeg Park)

Have you been preparing for the zombie apocalypse?  Run for Humanity 5K & 10K is your opportunity to test out your ability to run from the infected or test your ability to catch your next meal should you succumb to the zombie attack.

This race is set to the story that zombies have started to take over the world.  Champoeg State Park houses a safe haven for “survivors” of this attack.  However, zombies hunt down the survivors and there is no other option but for the survivors to outrun them!  With a 5K and 10K option, the survivors will begin running with a 2 minute head start on the zombies and three flags tied around their waist, indicating three lives.  Next, the zombies will start to chase down the survivors in attempt to get as many flags as possible.  Along the course there will also be “placed zombies” waiting in the shadows to attack unsuspecting runners.

At the end of the race, prizes will be given to the Ultimate Survivors (fastest survivors to come away with all of their flags) and Master of the Zombies (Zombie that collected the most flags).  Also, make sure to play the part, there will be prizes for the best costume.  The first 200 finishers between the 5K and 10K will receive medals.

Stay after for food, drinks, music and a Survival Skills fair.  All of the proceeds of this race go to North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity.  Habitat for Humanity builds safe and affordable housing for low-income families.  T-shirts are limited to this race and cost $15.

So, what will you be?  A zombie or a survivor?
