If you’ve never been to the trails in Oakridge, go run them immediately, if not sooner…and this is the perfect event to experience them with. If you’ve clicked on the link because of the word ‘Challenge’, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re not up for 3 glorious days of trail running culminating in a sweet customized t-shirt and trucker hat for bragging rights, not to worry, you can mix ‘n’ match.

Ready to hear more?

This year is the inaugural Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge; an epic stage race on 95% trail with a 3-day total of 60k. Friday is a half marathon, Saturday is 12.4 miles, and Sunday is also 12.4 miles. As I mentioned, you can sign up for each event individually ($40 each) or opt for the “Triple Ascent” ($99).

Want the nitty gritty details?

Day One: Alpine Ascent
This is an out and back half marathon with nearly 4,000 feet of elevation gain. Nearly all of this course is on single track, save for a small section of gravel road near the summit. There will be 5 aid stations and, of course, post-race food.

Time:
9:00 AM (packet pick up at the start line from 7-8:30 AM)
Where: Westfir Covered Bridge, Willamette National Forest, Westfir, Oregon 97492

Day Two: Dead Mountain Ascent
Runners will enjoy a lovely flat section before beginning their ascent. The summit will once again feature a small section of gravel road and then will turn around for the descent. This 12.4 miler has 2,650 feet of elevation gain and 3 aid stations.

Day: Saturday, October 14, 2017
Time: 9:00 AM (packet pick up at the Oakridge High School from 7-8:30 AM)
**NOTE**: You’ll need to take a shuttle to the start! Shuttle services begins at 8 AM
Where:
47997 West 1st Street, Oakridge, Oregon 97463

Day Three: Larison Rock Ascent
You come for the trail and stay for the view for Larison Rock. A bridge, some gravel, some singletrack, this run has it all. After the last 2 days of non-trivial elevation, this course climbs only 2,512 feet and 6 aid stations.

Day: Sunday, October 15, 2017
Time:
10:00 AM (packet pick up at the start line from 7-8:00 AM)
Where:
Greenwaters Park | 48362 Oregon 58, Oakridge, OR

But wait, there’s just a little more!

Also on day three (Sunday), there is a 5k event (a fast and flat loop!) which starts at 9:00 AM. And for those 12 and younger, a free 1 miler is at 8:30 AM, so bring everyone!
