Race Preview: 2017 South Slough Scramble (Astoria)

Many Pacific-Northwesterners know that Astoria, Oregon is a treasure trove of antiques, restaurants, museums and history, laced with all the quaintness of a fishing village (think wooden piers, shingled houses and old-fashioned architecture).  Some may not know that it’s also home to the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, which boasts many recreational areas as well as a Fort Clatsop replica.

The Lewis and Clark Trail Run Series takes place at this location, and includes the South Slough Scramble.  With two scenic courses (differing in length) offering views of Saddle Mountain, bottomlands and the Netul river, participants can choose a 3-mile “short loop” or a 5.5-mile “long loop.”  Runners and hikers are both welcome, but please no wheelchairs, strollers or pets.

This race does not have pre-registration as an option, so show up early to register on race day!

Date: Saturday, September 30, 2017

Time: Registration is 9:00am-9:45am.

Location: Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, 92343 Fort Clatsop Rd, Astoria, OR 97103
