Small Race Preview: Mt. Tabor Tar ‘N’ Trail Run – 5k and 10k (Portland)

Since I started running back in January, people have been telling me how I should run on Mt. Tabor. “It’s great for training!” they say. Well having looked up the trails and elevation changes, I can believe it! And I’m not ready for it yet – maybe next year! But maybe you are and if so, you should definitely sign up for the Mt.Tabor Tar ‘N’ Trail Run!

Put on by the The Friends of Mt. Tabor Park, this trail run has two options – a 5K walk/run and 10K run. 100% of the proceeds go towards the organization who plan, improve and maintain the park. Both the 5k and 10K routes are hilly and challenging, and utilize a combination of paved roads and dirt trails: hence the term “Tar ‘n’ Trail.” Also don’t forget the stairs – almost 100 of them!! There are three main trails on Mt. Tabor – red, green and blue. Each trail in the park is clearly marked, but on race day the routes will have additional markings to ensure no one goes off course. There will also be course monitors at all major intersections to assist with directions.

Stick around for post run foods provided by New Seasons and raffle prizes!
