Race Preview: 2017 Bridge of the Goddess Half Marathon and 10k (Cascade Locks) – WITH FIRE UPDATES

Note from Run with Paula Events:

We are currently monitoring the wildfires in the Columbia River Gorge and do not know how this will impact our race at this time.  We are hopeful that by race day the fires will be contained and the air quality returned to normal so we can deliver this race to you.  We are currently exploring other courses and venues for this race and will continue to monitor the situation. Our hearts go out to those that have had to evacuate their homes and their towns and are thankful to the men and women fighting the fires.  Fire updates can be found online.

The Bridge of the Goddess Half Marathon and 10k starts in Cascade Locks on Saturday, September 16th at 8am. This unique ladies only event begins on the majestic Bridge of Gods and offers a challenging out and back course along the Historic Columbia River Highway Trail among waterfalls, ferns and wildflowers. Plenty of aid stations along the way and safe from traffic, the historic trail hugs the cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge and includes spectacular views. Plan on plenty of hills, some stairs and bring a sense of adventure as you celebrate northwest beauty with girlfriends.

The run begins at 8am, but plan to arrive by 6:45am and carpool, if possible, since parking will be limited. The bridge closes at 7:30am to prepare for this unique opportunity. Add to the fun and dress up like a Goddess. The best Goddess costume will win a $100 gift card to Portland Running Company. Age group awards will be given to the top three ladies in each age division and the overall winners will receive a hand-made head wreath.

All finishers will receive a Bridge of the Goddess technical shirt, finisher necklace and a Bridge of the Goddess backpack. Stick around for the post race party back at Marine Park in Cascade Locks. There will be food, Rogue beer and entertainment waiting at Marine Park for the finishers to celebrate. Anyone who has participated in a Run with Paula Event knows they keep the standard high. The courses are fun, the aid stations are well planned, miles are marked and no detail is overlooked in the organizing. A great fall run with a gorgeous setting and a start on the Bridge of the Gods, it’s sure to be memorable.

Registration is limited to the first 1500, so don’t delay. Both the half marathon and 10k cost $89  and $99 on race day.  Day of registration will be available from 6:30-7:45am, if space is available and ladies can register online until race day. Plan to bring some canned food for an optional donation to the Operation GODDESS Food/Supply Drop. Non-perishable food and cash donations will be collected race morning for the Cascade Locks Food Bank.

Registration includes:

  • Amazing, well marked course, stairs included
  • Technical Race T-shirt
  • Chip timing
  • Finisher Necklace
  • Logo’d tote/backpack
  • Pre race goodies from Clif/Luna
  • Kelly’s Coffee Cruiser will be onsite coffee drinks for purchase before and after race

Make it a morning with girlfriends or just take some time for yourself on the trail and embrace your inner Goddess. Dogs and strollers will not be allowed on the course, it’s a morning just for the ladies. September is beautiful in the Gorge, the leaves and colors are amazing.
