The Sunriver Half Marathon for a Cause is definitely one to put on your running bucket list. This half marathon, 5K, and Kid’s Dash is held in Sunriver on Labor Day weekend. The half marathon starts at the Sunriver Lodge and meanders along the river, through the Crosswater Golf Course (which is beautiful), Caldera Springs, and back into Sunriver ending along the Meadows Golf Course. The route is mostly on paved trails with views ranging from open meadows with mountains in the distance to forested areas to the riverside. I ran this half marathon several years ago and absolutely loved the variety along the route.

Both the 5K and the half marathon are USATF Certified and well-supported with aid stations about every 2 miles. You can see detailed course maps here.
Participants will receive a technical finisher’s shirt, a medal for half marathoners and a commemorative prize for 5K runners, and a swag bag. Kid’s Dash participants will receive a medal and a cotton t-shirt. Awards will be given to the top male and female and masters winners for the 5K and half marathon. Ribbons will be given to the top three in each age group in each race.
This is a 2 day event with the 5K and Kid’s Dash on Saturday and the half marathon and post-race party on Sunday. Proceeds from this event go to St. Charles Cancer Services. Please note – there is a 3.5 hour time limit for the half marathon.
