Portland Marathon Clinic Free Long Run for Saturday, August 12, 2017 – Brunch Run Tickets Available

The Portland Marathon Clinic is running 20 miles this weekend and will be on the course (both the course proposed for this year and the previous course). As a bonus, there are 8 aid stations on the run with hydration; you’ll want to bring your own as well, and some snacks. Click here to see the map with mile markers.

The run will start at SW 4th and Main, and then skip the first few miles of the actual course, instead making a beeline to the river and traveling north along NW Naito Parkway. This weekend’s run will include the scenic out-and-back on NW Front Ave, and then head back to Raleigh for a stretch before  getting on NW St. Helens Road, which then joins Highway 30. You’ll get to run over the St. John’s Bridge, then run on Willamette around UP, along the bluff, and follow Greeley south to the Moda Center, crossing the river again on the Steel Bridge.

As always, the run starts at 8a but you should arrive early to take care of bathroom business and find your pace group. There will not be porta-potties set up before this run, so plan accordingly. Your best parking option is in one of the nearby Smart Parks or surface lots.

Brunch Run Tickets

The only PMC run that isn’t free is the Brunch Run on Saturday, September 9. This run also starts earlier – 7 :30a, rather than the usual 8a. The cost is because buses take runners from Willamette Park to the run’s start, 20 miles away, and then runners are treated to brunch when they return to the park. Tickets are $10 online here and are on sale until September 2. You can not buy a ticket after this date!

About Kelly Barten (721 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
