Race Preview: 2017 Tillamook Bay Run (5K/10K)

Oregon is beautiful in so many ways that it would be hard to say of anything location, “this is the prettiest place for a race.” If you love the coast, however, one of the contenders for that title might have to be the Tillamook Bay Run. This 5K or 10K race takes place on that peninsula part of the Tillamook Bay, so the ocean will be on one side and the bay on the other.

It’s a trail run, more or less out and back (the start and finish points are pretty close to each other), with the 10K continuing farther up the peninsula before turning around. The race organizers describe the trail this way:

The Tillamook Bay Run is a scenic trail run down the Bay Ocean Spit, down the bay, through the trees, and down the beach. The course narrows down to single lane runners at times and is comprised of gravel, dry sand, wet sand, hills and flats. It is your true all terrain race.

Race swag includes a race shirt, clam chowder from The Schooner Restaurant & Lounge, beer from Pelican Brewing, and Skout Trail Bars. And a cash prize for the winner of the 10K race. For those of you who like to sleep in, this race has a 10 a.m. start time!
