The Post Canyon 50K and Half Marathon is quickly approaching. This race takes place on August 12th in the beautiful town of Hood River, Oregon. If you like tough, unpredictable and epic races, this is the one for you! With noted uneven terrain and lots of twists and turns along the course, this race promises to give you an adventure and certainly bragging rights.
The race weaves its way around a big tree farm with lots of ups and downs. The race offers two distances, a 50K and a half marathon, both of which begin at 7am. With boasting views and lots of hills, this race will not only be tough but also beautiful. The 50K will be climbing 5,500 of elevation while the half marathon will be going for a 2,300 gain.
Trail shoes are highly recommended and all runners are required to wear or carry 16 oz of water. Runners are not allowed to wear headphones and the cut off for the 50K race is 8 hours. Along the course will see unicorns, gorillas, and other magical creatures as the volunteers dress up and make this a fully entertaining and unique event. The race starts and finishes in the same place, the Kingsley Reservoir, which you can cool off in with a nice swim. At the end of the race there is a post-race party complete with beer, snacks, and a food truck. All finishers also receive a Finisher Destiny card which is redeemable for prizes as several local businesses in Hood River.
Racers are encouraged to make a weekend of the race and stay on-site for first come, first serve camping for $10.
Packet pickup is the morning of the race starting at 6am at the starting area.
