Vernonia is a beautiful little town in Oregon and a great place to run. If you’re looking for a small race to round out the summer a bit, consider trekking that direction for the Bear Creek 5k/10k on July 29th at Anderson Park.
This event will not only fulfill your “to-do” list for races, but it will also benefit a good cause, The Vernonia Cares Food Bank, which is an organization that aims to provide 3 days of emergency groceries once a month to households in Vernonia that are in need.
The race is family-friendly too! There’s a 5k Kids Run for children 6 to 9 years old and a 5k Walk and Kids Fun Run for ages 5 and under.
This race course starts at Anderson Park and loops through the campground and out the trail to circle around Vernonia Lake and back to the campground for another loop. The 10k will follow the 5k course, but will continue out the Banks-Vernonia linear trail. Just before Timber road, 10k runners will turn around and finish at Anderson Park. This will be a beautiful flat and fast course that everyone can enjoy!
Packet Pick-up begins at 7:45am on race day morning. Hope to see you out there!
