Portland Marathon Clinic Free Long Run for Saturday, July 1, 2017

There’s no way it will be as hot this weekend as it was last, so if you’re upping your mileage with an eye toward a fall marathon or ultra, join the Portland Marathon Clinic! Their Saturday runs are free and led by experienced pace group leaders that have years of marathoning knowledge.

This weekend’s run starts at 8a from Road Runner Sports at 29 NW 23rd in Portland. Please be sure not to park in the shopping center’s lot; you’ll have to find street parking or in a nearby lot.

The distances this week are 14 miles and 16 miles.  Check out the route here. The run will start off by running towards the river on NW Everett and crossing the Steel Bridge to the Eastbank Esplanade. From there, the route heads south. Over the floating bridge, past OMSI, and to the Springwater Trail all the way to Sellwood. The 14-milers’ turnaround is near SE 11th and Umatilla, while the 16-milers will continue another mile to turn around just before crossing McLoughlin Blvd. Road Runner Sports will be staffing 2 aid stations on the route.

Be prepared for hydration and nutrition on the run and afterwards; and remember clothes to change into so you’re comfortable after the run. And say thank you to the pace group leaders who are volunteering their time to help out runners in training!

About Kelly Barten (771 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
