We know you’ve been inundated with race previews and rodeo posters and parade route maps and fireworks invitations because, somehow, the 4th of July is just around the corner already. There are so many to decide from and they all look incredibly fun, but it’s hard to choose! I’m going to tell you about just one more, though…the Butte to Butte!
It’s in Eugene, on July 4th, and is sponsored by Aquafina and put on by the Oregon Track Club. You can choose from a 10k, 5k, or a 4 mile walk. It’s been an annual event in Eugene since 1973 and it’s fun history can be read here.
The course is all on pavement, but is quite challenging. The famed Donald St/Fox Hollow hill once again will have King & Queen awards ($50 each) for the fastest up and downhill times. There will be cash prizes for other category winners as well, such as fastest male and female, top masters, new event record holders, 10k males breaking 30 minutes and females breaking 34 minutes or 5k males breaking 14:30 and females breaking 16:30, as well as the Alumni Challenge.
The 10k and 4 mile walk are point to point events and will have shuttles running to the start line starting at 6:30 am. The 5k is an out and back, so no shuttle is needed. Vans will bring gear back to the finish line after drop off.
Strollers are welcome but sorry, no dogs or drones allowed.
There will be water stations along the course routes(five for the 10k), as well as live music and lots of crowd cheering!
