If running in the summer heat is not your favorite thing to do, why not run on a cool summer night instead? The Twilight Run 5k in Tigard, Oregon is a wonderful event that has been going on strong for nine years now and happens every year during the Tigard Festival of Balloons in beautiful Cook Park.
The 5k chip-timed race is a flat and fast course along mostly paved bike trails and a few bark ones that go around the park right next to the Tualatin River. While you are racing along, you get to see all the people cheering for you and all of the festivities going on! Don’t forget about the untimed Kids Fun Mile – it’s always super cute to see and participate in!
At the finish line, receive your finisher ribbon, enjoy plentiful snacks and beverages during the awards ceremony and see if you won anything from the raffle (just put your bib number in one of the raffle items and you could win!). Be sure to stick around for the annual “Night Glow” where the hot air balloons from the Festival light up the night sky and there is a big party of fun into the evening!
Runners and walkers (must be able to finish within 60 minutes) are all welcome. All proceeds from the race go towards The Foundation For Tigard Tualatin Schools that advocates for and raises awareness about the importance of strong schools in the community. Registration for the 5k race includes a dri-fit t-shirt and is capped at 750 participants.
