Woof woof woof! I am a dog lover and I’m outnumbered in my house 3 to 1 by my pups, all of whom I got as rescue dogs from a local animal shelter. So when I saw this race come up on the radar, I was totally all about it! The Dog Gone Run is a dog-friendly 5K and 10K run/walk and 1 mile fun walk to benefit BrightSide Animal Center in Redmond, Oregon. This is a dog-friendly event where runners are encouraged to run with their furry friends, but it is not a requirement to participate at all. The event is the only event in Central Oregon that allows dogs to run the course with their humans so there will be plenty of pups everywhere for everyone to enjoy!
All routes start in Sam Johnson Park and wind their way through the park on the paved Dry Canyon Trail. There is even a a 5k team option so get all your friends to run with you! Stay for the post race event with music, a beer garden and also you’ll get to see the Redmond K9 Police Unit put on an exciting demonstration or two!
Awards will be given for fastest finishers overall and in each age division. Registration includes a snazzy T-shirt and a cool bandana for you or your dog! Check it out and support the puppies!
