The countdown is on for the 2017 Bend Beer Chase

Time to get your beer chasing on! It’s the fourth annual Bend Beer Chase by Cascade Relays! Bend and the surrounding areas claim to have about 29 breweries, and the BBC will let you hit most of them in one day! Sounds like my kinda relay!

You read correctly that this is a one-day relay – no need for overnights (unless you wanna grab some significant sleep the night before or sleep off your beer afterwards).  Teams of up to 6 (or even solo) will tackle about 50 mile in the heart of central Oregon’s beer mecca! After the main relay portion, teams can run Keg Leg, featuring 2.8 miles and 8 breweries that will be serving samples while hosting different promotions and tastings. This can also be done without needing to run the full relay, so maybe get your support people who may not be down with 50 miles, to run this one with you.

Obviously the race starts at a brewery and a “worthy” one at that – Worthy Brewing. We recommend checking out the course map, but in general it will be a thin loop of runners heading north to Redmond, past Cline Falls State Park, down to Tumalo, and back to downtown Bend. Check out the individual leg maps for details.

Every team with 3-6 runners must provide one Volunteer who is at least 18 years of age or older. You can also use BBC’s “Hire a Volunteer” program for an additional $200 through 5/31 (or $300 thereafter). But really, I’m sure you can find someone who can spare a few hours, not have to run, and then get to drink beer in Bend for the rest of the day!

You may have some experience with overnight relays, but being split up between multiple vans and not seeing half of them until the finish is kind of a bummer. There is still time to register and run as a team, cheer as a team, bonds as a team, finish as a team, and drink as a team!

Download the Cascade Lakes Relay app for all your race day needs and check out the Race Guide for all the specifics. Follow the race on Facebook as well. If you don’t think you can pull a team together, go here for info on how to join a team.
