Portland Marathon Clinic Free Long Run for Saturday, May 13, 2017

This weekend’s PMC training run offers route of 9, 10, and 12 miles from the Road Runner Sports Tualatin location. Remember these points and you’ll be set:

  • Bring your own hydration and nutrition, including for after the run
  • Run the right pace – PMC practices the “Long Slow Distance” method where your long runs are slower than your target pace for the race; check with the pace groups leaders if you’re not sure which group you should run with
  • Dress appropriately, including bringing clothes to change into after the run so you don’t get cold.

The route starts out by running past Brown’s Ferry Park on SW Nyberg Lane and then past Legacy’s Meridian Park Hospital. The route crosses over I-5 on SW Sagert and then runs through nice neighborhoods in Tualatin. Those running 9 miles will make it nearly to Tualatin High School before turning back. The 10-milers will make it to Ibach Park, while the 12-milers will go a mile further, turning around at SW 103rd and Teton.

PMC is providing a water stop at the 4-mile mark and there are bathrooms at Atfalati Park and Ibach Park.

The run starts at 8a and pace groups range are offered for paces between around a 3:00 marathon to a 5:30 marathon finish time.

About Kelly Barten (770 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
