Happy Girls Half Marathon, 10k and 5k celebrates women in Bend on Saturday, May 27th . This ladies only event encourages women of all abilities to come explore the beautiful Bend scenery. Kids 3-10 are invited to run with the Happy Little Kids Run and have three options to run, a 50 yard dash, 500 yard run and 1.5k run. Their registration is free with a pre-registered adult code. All kids receive big #1 and get a participation ribbon at the finish line. There’s a little bit of everything with the courses too, including challenging trails, groomed paths and paved roads. With non-stop views along the way, the course follows the Deschutes River and to say it’s scenic would be an understatement.
The Half Marathon and 10k courses follow the Canyon Trail along the river, one of the most scenic areas Bend offers. The Boys and Girl Club will be providing aid stations along the way with Gu Brew, water and gels. Pacers will also be provided, it you’re aiming for a PR. Register before May 25th for the best price. The 5k costs $40, the 10k costs $50, the Half Marathon is $85 and the Happy Little Kids Run is $5. Registration will be available at packet pick-up and race day for an additional $5.
2017 Half Marathon Finisher Bling
All Half Marathon finishers receive a custom necklace made locally by Stuart’s of Bend and a shirt. All 10k and 5k finishers receive a pair of Happy Girl Sock Guy socks. The goody bag promises some fun treasures too, with a mini bottle of Crater Lake vodka, Green Goo first aid sticks, Paleo Eats energy bars, DANI Natural lotion and other surprises.
If you’re making a ladies weekend of it, you should consider attending the pre-race celebration on Friday, May 26th with snacks, cocktails and vendors. Bend Parks & Recreation is providing a warm-up stretch and Namaspa is providing some relaxation after the race with a little yoga cool down. All runners, friends and family are invited for a little yoga in the park after the race.
Happy Girls Half Marathon, 10k and 5k is the perfect excuse to grab some girlfriends and head to Bend. Groups of 6 or more get a 20% discount with registration. Plan to pack a change of clothes and stick around for the awards ceremony and race celebration. Awards will be given to the first three finishers overall and Masters. The post race celebration will include beer, cocktails, catered food and music. Even better, you’ll be surrounded with inspiring women.
