Race Preview: 2017 Ridgeline Ramble (Eugene, OR)

Calling all trail runners! Level 32 Racing’s Big Trail Series continues with the Ridgeline Ramble on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Their 9th annual, this Eugene trail run offers a 10K, 20K, or two-person 20K relay.

This run covers the entirety of the Ridgeline Trail System. For those familiar with trails in Eugene, the new Dillard Connector Trail is incorporated – and for those who haven’t run there before…it’ll all be new!

Both the 20K and 10K courses are ~85% trails and gravel/dirt roads, with a mile and some change on paved roads through the Spring Boulevard neighborhood. The scenic Nature Trail will again be featured during the a final 1/2 mile. Racers can also look forward to a stream crossing! The 20K has a 459′ net elevation drop, while the 10K drops 341′ from start to finish. here is a PDF of the course map.

The 20K starts at the Blanton Heights Trailhead and the 10K start line is on Christiansen Road. All 3 events end at the Lane Community College parking lot (park here in the morning – don’t worry, they’ll shuttle you!). You’ll want to go here to get your packet on race day anyway, starting at 6:45 am. The shuttle leaves at 7:20 am for the 20K and first relay runners; 10K and second person relay runners leave at 8 am. If you’re like me and hate freezing at the starting line, feel free to leave your puffies and fleeces on – you can drop a clothing bag back in the van at each start line and they’ll take it back to the finish for you! Just remember to put your name and bib number on it. Merino and down items aren’t cheap to replace!

The 10K features 3 aid stations (miles 1.4, 3.0, and 4.1) and the 20K has seven (miles 1.8, 3.9, 5.1, 6.2, 7.4, 9.2, and 10.3). GU Brew and energy gels will be provided at the Fox Hollow and Willamette aid stations; water and light snacks at the rest.

The top three overall male and female finishers will receive custom wooden medallions and the top three in each age division will receive medals. The overall relay team champions will also receive custom wooden medallions for each division. All runners are also entered for random prize drawings.
