This weekend’s free long run, hosted by the Portland Marathon Clinic and led by volunteer pacers, will go for 7, 9, and 10 miles from the Athleta Store in Portland’s Brewery Blocks at 1001 SE Couch St. in Portland.
Your first question might be “Where should I park?” Well, the best option is to take public transit – the streetcar will put you really close but Max is only a few blocks walk from the store. Street parking in the area can be tough, but there are a few parking ramps in the area. The Brewery Parking garage is at 112 NW 12th, and there’s a surface lot at 9th & Couch. Carpooling is another great idea. Or, do what Coach Jim always advises – park on the west side of the 405 where you can find longer-term spots, and jog over to the store.
Currently, it looks like the rain will hold off, but be prepared either way. You’ll also need to bring your own hydration and nutrition – including post-run snacks.
The route will start out by making a bee-line to the river, then crossing the Steel Bridge and running around the Moda Center to Interstate Ave. 7-milers will turn around at N. Skidmore Stree, 9-milers just shy of N. Killingsworth, and the 10-milers will get all the way to N. Ainsworth. All routes are simple out-and-backs.
