Where can you find kayaking, mountain biking, running, road cycling and beautiful scenery? At the Siskiyou Challenge relay in Ashland, Oregon! With 5 legs, you can do it solo or as part of a team. In addition to being fun, it’s supporting a great cause: Rogue Valley Farm to School – a nonprofit organization that uses gardening and farming programs to educates school-aged children about our food system and sustainability. This event also features a fun run and, for those interested, a pre-race dinner the evening before.
[Editor’s note: I really like the thought behind this race, as I have family members who are active but are clearly NOT runners. My father-in-law is an avid kayaker and my brother-in-law is a cycling phenom (at least compared to me). I never get to do races with them, due to their disdain for running, but this is an event that could bring us all together. I recommend going here for easy access to all the maps for each leg.
The Siskiyou Challenge Facebook page can be used to build a team, find a kayak to borrow, or to know when practice rides, runs and rows will take place.
*Please note: In the event of a cancellation due to unforeseeable circumstances (such as weather or smoke), all entry fees will be considered kind donations to the Rogue Valley Farm to School program. There will be no refunds given.
