Strava Segment of the Week: Fremont to Broadway (on the Shamrock 8k route)

This week’s Strava Segment of the Week, “Fremont to Broadway,” is on the 2017 Shamrock Run 8k course and runs along NW Naito Parkway from the Fremont Bridge to the Broadway Bridge. This is a popular route: 6,074 attempts by 1,610 people. It’s also flat, and a nice distance: 0.9 km (just over a half-mile).

As of March 17, 2017, the course records for the Fremont to Broadway segment are:

Women’s: Christina O. from November 2015 3:10

Men’s:  Cameron Kreuz from November 2016, 2:09

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Thursday, March 30 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at 12.

Our segment from two weeks ago was Hood River’s Foot Bridge to Toll Bridge. No new leaders, but keep this one in mind next time you’re in Hood River! Also keep in mind that we’ve got a segment on the Shamrock 15k and half marathon course, the Terwilliger Blvd (turnaround to Campus Drive) segment which expires on April 23 at noon.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
