Strava Segment of the Week: Teal of Steel

It has been a while since we’ve done a Strava Segment of the Week that included a decent hill, so why not do one that is 100% hill? This week’s segment is the Teal of Steel, run in South Beaverton pretty close to Murray and Scholls Ferry Road.

The climb is only 72 feet, over 0.3 miles, but that works out to a 4% grade. It’s what I think of as a neighborhood favorite – it’s been tried by 105 people – 729 total times. The segment starts at SW Scholls Ferry Rd. and climbs up SW Teal Blvd. There is only one road crossing – at SW Pintail Loop – on this segment, making it pretty sheltered but not 100% car-free.

Women’s: Brittney Forster – 2:31, February 2016

Men’s: Pat Werhane – 2:07, August 2013

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Thursday, February 23 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at noon.
