Spring is almost here and to many runners in Oregon, that means it’s time to lace up your running shoes and get out the door to run some races. Bend-area runners, this one is in your backyard. Or if you are looking to get out of town for this a race, perhaps the Grin and Bear It 5k or 10k is the one you want to kick off the season with.
This race is not only a great excuse to visit Bend;z it also benefits a wonderful cause. The 12-Point Kid Inspection Clinics by Healthy Beginnings will receive all proceeds from this race. Healthy Beginnings provides comprehensive health and developmental screenings for children ages 0-5 with a focus on hearing, vision, dental, behavior, speech, development, nutrition, health and many other things as well as car seat safety. Their screenings are free to all children, regardless of income or insurance, so this is an awesome service to the community.
The Grin and Bear It 5k & 10k Run/Walk starts at 10:00AM on Saturday March 4th, and there is also a 1 Mile Family Fun Run which begins at 11:00AM. Registration is currently open and there will be a $5 price increase on Feb 18th.
The course for both the 5k and 10k starts and ends at the Les Schwab Amphitheater (the 10k is a double loop of the 5k route) and takes you through the neighborhoods around the Deschutes River as well as Farewell Bend park. The flat 1 Mile Family Fun Run will take you through the Old Mill District on a paved road.
There will be awards for the fastest male and female as well as ribbons for the top three finishers in each age group. All participants in the Family Fun Run will get a ribbon, so this would be a great first-time race for the kiddos. Everyone is also eligible for prize drawings.

Packet Pick-Up: Friday, March 4th from 12:00PM-8:00PM at FootZone. Race day from 8:30AM-9:45AM at Les Schwab Amphitheater.
