Race Preview: Resolution Relay – 2017 B.Y.O.B (Bring Your Own Baton)

Before you dance the night away and drinking your champagne till the ball drops (or you do), how about Bring Your Own Baton and Run in Boring!  I’m sure there will be cake or something at your New Years Eve party, so run it off and be guilt free relay-style with your very own Baton (whatever you want it to be). Start on your resolutions early by by running your butts off as the clock hits midnight.

The race organizers of this race  want you to get creative and have fun with creating your own team, name, and baton to match (preferably). They are just excited about what you or your team will create to bring (as long as it’s appropriate – phew, that could be a bad decision). Be it a rubber chicken, golden scepter, or megaphone (not too loud),  just make sure you come out to the event.

The relay abilitiy of the event also gives you your options of how many participants there are per team. It’s not like Hood To Coast where you have 12 members and two vans – it is zero vans and up to four runners to a team for the half marathon distance. Or you can run it solo as well if you want to kick off your new year with some miles.

The way the distances work is:

  • Leg 1: 3.5 Miles
  • Leg 2: 3.9 Miles
  • Leg 3: 2.2 Miles
  • Leg 4: 3.5 Miles

Example: If you sign up for a team of 3, the first runner does Leg 1, the second runner does Leg 2 and Leg 3 and the third runner does Leg 4.

If that’s not enough options you also have the option of running wherever you want with the virtual option. So you can run your own resolution half marathon somewhere not “boring”.

This race is put on by Eastwind Running & Endurance and it is their goal of this race to award a scholarship in the Spring of 2017 for local high schoolers who participate in physical fitness and incorporate it into their busy lives.

So if that’s still not reason enough to sign up, know that if you do you will receive a long sleeve tech t-shirt, a cowbell finisher medal with a neck strap, a  logo bib, breakfast, goodie bag, custom awards for 1st place finishers, AND more prizes. Now that’s starting the year off right!
