The half marathon starts first at 9am, the kids run at 9:30, followed by 10k and 5k at 10am. All three distances start out on the same route: At the one mile mark, the 5k splits off the course to run a turnaround loop, while 10k and half marathon veer south. The 10k turns around at mile 3.3 and heads back the way it came. Both 5k and 10k are flat and run on pavement. The half marathon loops even further south than the 10k, includes some pretty significant hills in its middle 7 miles, and then rejoins the 10k course at the half’s mile 10. The 5k will have no aid stations, the 10k has two and the half marathon has five, all of which will offer water and gatorade.
All three races finish by passing the start line and heading onto a gravel road, which then leads onto the beach and into the Pacific Ocean! The plunging part is optional; participants cross the official finish line before reaching the edge of the water. All participants receive a finisher’s medal.
After the race, enjoy a drink (beer or hot apple cider) and a bowl of delicious clam chowder by Rogue. For additional up-to-date information, follow the event on Facebook.
