Race Preview: 2016 Keizer Jingle Dash 5k

After a handful of years of the Keizer Jingle Dash 5k starting at the Keizer Courthouse Athletic Center and running through McNary Estates, there is a shift in location and time coming up in 2016. This year's event will take place on December 10, 2016 and precede the Keizer Holiday Lights Parade down River Road. I always liked the unique location of previous events, but it seemed that the neighborhood never really came fully on board with creating an electric atmosphere, and the numbers of houses with Christmas lights seemed to dwindle over the years. Thus, this year's shift should take care of that significantly.

The race will be an out-and-back along River Road. There is usually a pretty significant group of people out there to watch the parade, regardless of the weather. There has actually been smaller races who have done this in the past, but none with the experience and numbers that the Keizer Chamber of Commerce – KC Runs brings to the table. Those other races were minimally attended and had a lack of organization, things that KC Runs should be able to fix right off the bat. I am excited for this event as a result!

Following the event, obviously stick around for the parade, but there will also be cinnamon rolls, hot cocoa, and coffee for finishers. Each entry will also come with a shirt and other holiday swag. There will also be awards for best holiday costumes, so come decked out in those ugly Christmas sweaters, Santa suits, or Christmas Lights.

Follow the event on Facebook.
