Come on Everybody: We’re Going Streaking!!! (Chance to Win a Race Entry)

No, no, no not that kind of streaking!

I’m talking about a running streak. For those of you who don’t know, a running streak is running a specific distance for a set number of days consecutively. Streaking can be a fun and challenging way to motivate yourself to get out and get running, especially this time of year when the days are short, the rain doesn’t seem to stop and the holiday season is upon us. As a personal challenge, I’m going to run at least a mile per day for the next 39 days. While a mile may not seem like much, the challenge comes from having to make the time to run every. single. day for the next 39 days in a row. This means, ran or shine, 12 hour work days, holiday parties, family get-togethers, having out-of-town guests stay with us and all of the usual day-to-day occurrences will not be an excuse to get out of the streak. Of course if I feel ill or injured, I can walk instead of run. The point is to not break the streak and to challenge myself to hit the pavement (or treadmill) daily.

The best part? You don’t have to be logging miles upon miles every day. Anybody at any stage can do it. Fast or slow, it doesn’t matter at all. Join me and other Run Oregon readers and streak. Keep us updated and be entered to for a GIVEAWAY for a local late-January race. Details about the race will be posted in the next week. The “rules” of the streak are as follows:

  • The streak begins November 25th and ends January 2nd
  • You must run or walk at least 1 mile per day
  • Only running or walking count
  • Gain entries by:
    • Posting a picture with hashtag #run_oregon on any of our social media account
    • Comment and/or update about your streak progress on the comments section of this post and other posts in the next few weeks (I’ll include some of them in my streaking updates)

Pretty straight-forward, eh?! This streak is for fun only and is not a competition-no one can really track your progress but you. Please exercise caution and listen to your body. If for some reason you find yourself unable to run one day, walk. So, are you ready? Let’s go streaking!!
