Race Preview: 2016 Frozen Trail Run Fest (Eugene)

Alright y'all it's time to get yourself frozen! I mean, it's the title of the race so head down to Eugene on Saturday, December 10, 2016 and "Let it go". It's also time to get loopy around Mt Pisgah/ Buford Park. According to Travel Oregon's own Grant Mcomie said Mount Pisgah is "one of the premier natural areas of Oregon". This Frozen Trail Runfest is one that you are not going to want to miss.

These courses are different loop-based with varying differences. Expect to get a bit muddy, wet, and cold at this race, but keep in mind that “the cold never bothered me anyway”. The first and second loops has some flatter sections, but then expect some incline to a steeper summit loop on some packed gravel road. All loop trails have some creek crossing so you can run over some creeks!

There are four different race distance options from a 5k to a 9 miler to a to a 15 miler and a 50k. They all have their different challenges with changes in elevation gain and the number of loops involved. The more loops you do, the more elevation gain.  And if you think the 5k may be the easy way out, it looks to be almost straight up the mountain so expect it to be a challenge. And come out and enjoy the winter running, because you will soon be running in the staggering heat “in summer”!
