Chase or be chased, this is the premise behind the Run with Zombies 5k to be held Saturday, October 29 in Stayton. Participants will have the option of running as a zombie or as the pursued and attempt to evade the zombies. All proceeds from this event will support local schools and ASB funds.
Runners who choose to evade zombies will be given a head start and each runner will have 2 ribbons on them that the zombies will try to snatch. Prizes will be given out to the fastest zombie, the fastest non-zombie, and the zombie with the most ribbons at the conclusion of the race. Those running as zombies are encouraged to dress as zombies.
The chip timed event has an official start time of 10am. Registration will be open now until October 24 and is $10 (add $2 for sign up fee). Additionally, there will be day of race registration for $15. Race location is: 1021 Shaff Road Southeast, Stayton, OR 97383
Vernonia Graveyard Dash 3k and 6k
The Vernonia Graveyard Dash 3k and 6k is set to take place Saturday, October 29th. The event will support the Vernonia Hands on Art Center, a local non profit that celebrates the creative spirit and honors the Vernonia communitys’ heritage.
The 3k walk/run and 6k races will both be chip timed and the event will include a costume party with cash prizes for the best costumes. The start and finish will take place at Vernonia Memorial Cemetery with both races having a start time of 10am. Participants will be treated to post race music, awards and snacks.
Registration for both the 3k and 6k will be open until October 28 and is $20 (add $2.50 sign up fee) for those 16 years and older; $10 (add 2.00 sign up fee) for those 15 and under.
