What Run Oregon is Wearing: Women’s casual wear from Betabrand

Run Oregon sometimes receives products to review. In this post, Marilyn Tycer provides some initial impressions of some woman-centric gear from Betabrand. Company: Betabrand (Facebook)

No-Sweat Cocktail Dress

I was especially excited about trying out the No-Sweat Cocktail Dress, which looked amazing AND had some amazing features. First, a gross confession: I’m a sweaty girl. It’s awkward. So a dress that’s DESIGNED with that in mind seemed like a dream come true! The No-Sweat Cocktail dress has moisture-wicking, pill resistant fabric that’s thick and stretchy, with strategically placed ruching across the stomach. The thick, opaque material helps smooth out most of my lumps and bumps. The asymetrical neck and hem add the perfect amount of interest to this little black dress, and make it easy to dress up or dress down. There’s a hidden zipper in the back.  But the best feature… it has POCKETS. (I’m convinced all women fall into one of two camps: women who are obsessed with dresses with pockets, and women who didn’t realize that dresses with pockets exist). There’s a secret pocket near the neckline, large enough for a lipgloss or ID and credit cards, and there’s also a hidden zippered pocket on the right hip. It’s perfect because I can carry all the stuff I need without a purse. It’s also great because it doesn’t ride up, so you can move around without worrying about flashing the whole world. Overall, it’s a really great versatile, and INCREDIBLY comfortable dress.

The Lumberjill

I received the Lumberjill in grey, which is a casual button up shirt with a slim long fit with cotton paid on the front and soft knit for the back and arms. This particular style was selected through crowdfunding and added to the Betabrand lineup, which I thought was really cool. The Lumberjill is so perfect for the PNW outdoorsy-hipster-athletic lifestyle, with the fabrics, colors, and cut. I received a medium and I would say it’s true to size, although the cut of the shirt wasn’t great for my particular body (I’m a little long in the torso, and it felt a little awkward in the chest and armpits). I did LOOOOOOVE the thumbholes.

Straight Leg Travel Yoga Pants ($88.00)

I received these in black, which is THE classic yoga pants color (FYI you can never have too many pairs of black yoga pants). These Travel Yoga Pants are designed with travel and comfort in mind: they have a high waistband with a hidden pocket that’s large enough to fit a passport or ID; they have “anatomically considered seaming” on the outer legs, rather than a single seam down the middle. The fabric is thick and of good quality. These pants are visually more casual than slacks (but can easily be dressed up), and they have all of the comfort of traditional yoga pants–talk about the best of both worlds! These seem to run true to size also.

Thank you to Betabrand for sending us some sample items for testing. Our opinions are always independent and unbiased reviews of the products we receive.
