Race Preview: 2016 Down & Dirty Half/10K (Bend)

downloadTrail races are definitely where it's at, right now, and this is one you don't want to miss. The Down & Dirty Half is the tougher and meaner older sister to the Dirty Half that takes place in June. While the Dirty Half is certainly a tough trail race, the Down & Dirty is sure to leave you spent. And don't think the 10K is any easier. The first 6.5 miles of the half are uphill and while it would seem natural that the last 6.5 miles would all be down, that's simply not true. Professional runner and course record holder, Max King, called this course "tough". The Down & Dirty 10K follows much the same route, simply turning around as an "out and back" course, while the half is a loop. Both races start and end at 7th Mountain Resort.

As a side note, there is a 4 hour time limit for these races that is strictly adhered to. Any runner still on the course after the time must accept a ride back to the finish.

If you’re thinking of traveling over for this race, there are certainly plenty of lodging options, but one to think about is the 7th Mountain Resort, which offers racers a special rate on a room. Call 7th Mountain Resort and tell them you are in the race to receive the dirty deal, 888-784-4386.  Go to www.seventhmountain.com for resort description and driving instructions.

When: Sunday, October 16th. Races start at 9am.

Register: In person at FootZone in Bend or online here.
