Holiday Race Previews: 2016 Day of the Dead (Talent) and Trick or Treat, Monster Feet (Newport)
Coming on October 22nd are two holiday-themed races in 2 different parts of Oregon. Choose from Southern Oregon or the Oregon Coast for one of these festive events.
The 3rd annual Day of the Dead Race is held in Talent, Oregon. This small town is celebrating Latin culture by enjoying this Mexican holiday. There will be a 5K, 10K, and 1 mile fun run. This non-profit group involved in this event is UNETE, volunteer-led movement of farm-workers and immigrants in rural Southern Oregon.
The top 3 male and female runners in each race will receive a Day of the Dead hand made skull.
There will be a post-race Day of the Dead party with authentic Mexican and Latin American foods, mariachi, traditional folkloric dance groups, a DJ, face painting, crafts and more.
Entry fees for the race are $25 for the 10K, $20 for the 5K, and $10 for the 1 mile fun run
Trick or Treat, Monster Feet 5K and Kids Fun Run will be held in Newport at Rogue Brewery. Costumes are encouraged at this fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Newport. Through October 1st, the cost for the 5K is $30 and includes a shirt. The Kids Fun Run is $25 and also includes a shirt.
Trick or Treat, Monster Feet (I love that name!) promises scenic views in the coastal town of Newport. What a fun family-friendly race to include in your weekend beach trip!
