Preview: 2016 Regatta Run 5k on October 15

Fall is getting to be as rich in races as summer here in the Pacific NW, so why not explore some of the events which make our communities come together? The Regatta Run might be just what you need to be reminded how amazing we have it, as the run honors Corporal Matthew Lembke, who served three tours of duty and died after sustaining serious injuries on his last tour. Lembke graduated from Tualatin High School in 2005, and this race raises funds for the Matthew Lembke scholarship. Members for Tualatin High School sports team volunteer and businesses from around the city set up sponsor tents with giveaways and activities for participants.

The course runs on the trails (mainly paved) from Tualatin Community Park, over the Tualatin River, and into Cook Park. It’s an out and back course and suitable for jogging strollers. The event encourages both runners and walkers to participate.

The Regatta Run is part of the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, a family-friendly event where giant pumpkins are sailed on the Tualatin Commons Pond.

Here are the details for this race:

About Kelly Barten (753 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
