Race Preview: 2016 Condor 25k Trail Run (Corvallis)

logotransparentThe crisp early mornings, and scattered golden leaves that blanket the Willamette Valley after the first frost of autumn, beckon runners to the forests of Corvallis, Oregon the first weekend in October. Seeped through the mind’s of Corvallis’ rich, distance running community, the Condor 25k Trail Run is one of Oregon’s hidden gems on the trailing running race circuit each fall.

The course incorporates a diverse network of rolling single track trails and logging roads that meander through the McDonald Forest, with runners supported by three full aid stations serving GU Gels, GU Brew, and water as they ascend and descend approximately 2600’ of elevation.

Most important is the fact that the Condor 25k Trail Run is held annually as a tribute to Oregon ultrarunning community’s late Dave “Condor” Bateham. Known for his agile running, community leadership, and altruistic spirit, the selfless nature of Condor himself rests in the hearts of all who toe the starting line of this event each year. In his honor, and following in the example of his generous giving, the proceeds of the Condor 25k Trail Run will be donated to the Oregon State University Research Forest fund for trail maintenance and construction of new trails within the McDonald Forest. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to Dave’s immediate family.

Registration is available online for $45 and comes with a pair of event socks (while supply lasts). Participants may choose to register the day of the event, and surplus merchandise may be available for purchase.
