Race Preview: 2016 Talent Harvest Festival 5k/10k (Talent, OR)

The City of Talent in Southern Oregon is nestled in the foothills of the Siskiyou mountains, just north of Ashland. This beautiful setting turns even more beautiful in the fall when leaves are changing colors and the air feels crisp and fresh. The Talent Harvest Festival on October 1st celebrates all things fall and harvest, and it includes a 5k/10k run as well. Registration is open online.

The 5k and 10k start together at 8am with the start line by the Skate Park on N Front St near the intersection with Main St. The 5k course is an out and back route that goes gently uphill for the first half, which means that the second half is all downhill. The 10k is a challenging hilly loop with gorgeous views; the highest elevatin is reached around mile 3.5, and the remaining 2.7 miles are mostly downhill. Both races end on E Main St right in front of Downtown Park.

After the race, stick around for the the Harvest Festival. The pancake breakfast is hosted by the Talent Chamber of Commerce, the parade starts at 10am, and live music starts at 10:45am. Music and vendors and autumn/harvest activities continue through 4pm.
