September 17 will be the 24th annual Pinksox Run/Walk. This 5K and 10K run/walk is sponsored by the Soroptimist International Clubs of Eugene and Junction City. The Pinksox run/walk is a fundraiser for the Soroptimist Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Assistance Fund. This fund provides emergency cash grants to Lane County women who are having financial hardship while undergoing cancer treatment. These funds help pay for everyday expenses that are often forgotten during cancer treatment like utility bills, rent, childcare, and more.
The 5K and 10K are both timed and start at Alton Baker Park in Eugene. The goal of this event is “to secure and sustain the Breast & Gynecologic Cancer Assistance Fund for many years to come.” This is an easy cause for most of us to support, since so many of us know someone who has had breast cancer. If you can’t attend, but would like to give to this cause, donations are accepted through the Soroptimist Club of Eugene.
