While in past years all distances started at Barlow HS and part of the course went along a busy highway (and making the 8k “Not even close to Boring”), now all courses start and end at Boring Station Trailhead of the Springwater Trail near Boring Middle School, making the race even more Boring than ever. The 8k and the half marathon are a straight-forward out-and-back (with turnarounds after 2.5 and 6.55 miles, respectively) entirely on the Springwater Trail, while the marathon adds a few miles of detours through quiet neighborhoods to add up to the correct mileage. There will be several aid stations on the course, spaced about 2 miles apart, serving water, electrolyte drinks, and fuel/food.
The marathon starts at 6:30 AM, the Half at 7:00 AM, and the 8K at 7:30 AM. There is no time limit for the marathon, but course volunteers and aid stations will close after six hours. The finish line will remain open until the last person finished. Faster finishers are encouraged to stick around and help award medals to those who finish after them. Awards are given to the top finishers overall and in age groups, and there will be other Boring swag as well.
