Some say running has gone to the dogs. I’d say it is all a matter of perspective. When you look at it in a light that shows a local run that benefits an animal shelter, it is definitely a good thing. Taking place on September 10th, in one of the biggest parks in McMinnville, this fun 5K and 1 mile walk promises a morning of fun to raise money for the Homeward Bound Pets Adoption Shelter.
The fun starts at 8 that morning, with check in and the gun goes off an hour later. There will be entertainment in the form of face painting, music, pet product booths, pet groomers on site for nail clippings and local radio station KLYC will be broadcasting live. There will be plenty of raffle prizes as well as snacks and water for two and four footed participants. Awards will be given out to the top finishers and several fun classes for the canine participants.
You can register now for $25 until September 4th, which includes a shirt. Day of event registration is $30 and may not include a shirt. The trails of Joe Dancer Park are quite inviting, almost completely flat and covered with park dust. Large trees and a nearby river help keep the temperatures down and help ensure that September 10th will be a pleasant day for humans and canines alike to get a little exercise and support a great cause.
