The race starts and finishes at New Life Foursquare Church on SE Territorial Rd in Canby. The 10k is a simple loop that is mostly flat, except for one highway crossing bridge and one very short, steep hill in the fourth mile, then a nice downhill to the finish. There are four water/gatorade stations on the course, the first three of which also have porta-potties. The half marathon course splits from the 10k before the first mile is over. Runners go past the country club and along the river for a beautiful out-and-back stretch, then loop through the dahlia fields at miles 5-7 before joining the 10k course again just before their mile 8 mark. Most of the course is paved, except for a grass path through the dahlia fields, where your race photo will be taken with a gorgeous backdrop. There are eight water stations on the half marathon course.
The course is open for four hours (18 min/mile pace for the half marathon), which makes it great for athletes of all experience levels and speeds. Keep in mind that in late August temperatures can rise into the 80’s by mid morning, so plan your attire and water/fueling accordingly. Every finisher will receive a medal and a dahlia as they cross the finish line. Awards will also be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group (ten year brackets), so stick around for the 10k awards at 8:45 and the half marathon awards at 9:45am.
