South Coast Running Club presents the Circle the Bay 30K run/walk championship, in addition to the 30K run/walk relay! This excellent assortment of event choices takes place on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in North Bend, Oregon. North Bend is on the coast, very close to Coos Bay, and a pleasant, short drive from Bandon, Oregon.
This stunning, circular style course is going to be pretty challenging. Covering 30K (18.6 miles), the event will start at Ferry Road Park in North Bend, and take participants through the gorgeous Coos Bay waterfront, and finishing back at Ferry Road Park. You may choose to participate as an individual runner or walker, or create a 3-person relay team to tackle 10K segments as a team. Total ascent for the course is 462 feet with a maximum elevation of 235.6 feet. If choosing the relay, the first leg is pretty flat, leg two has rolling hills, and leg three is all about the hills! The course will be open to vehicular traffic.
Participants registered by 07/30/2016 receive a technical, short sleeve shirt. Participants, their fans, and all volunteers are invited to enjoy post-race food and beverages. 30K individuals will be awarded the Circle the Bay medal! Purchase a limited amount of shirts DOR or order for delivery. The awards ceremony, to 8 places, will begin about 11:15 a.m. in Ferry Road Park. The course is open to vehicle traffic so be extremely cautious. Many volunteer safety people protect participants; please be safe, have fun, and remember the vehicles are tougher than walkers & runners.
Important to note (if you love event shirts like I do), make sure to register by July 30, 2016 to secure your short sleeve event tech shirt. 30K finishers will receive a Circle the Bay medal. Registration fees are $25 for South Coast Running Club Members for the individual event, or $22 for the relay. Non-members add $20 if you want a shirt, or add $10 if you do not want a shirt. Relay team pricing slight lower for non-members.
The race day schedule is as follows – walkers will begin at 6:30 a.m, and runners at 8 a.m. Packet pick-up will be at 6:15 a.m. for walkers, and last until 7:45 a.m. for runners at Ferry Road Park. Flush toilets will be available at the start/finish, with portable style toilets on the course. The awards ceremony will begin approximately 11:15 a.m. Stick around after you finish for the “well known” post-race spread.
