The annual SHOC Walk and Run will be held on August 6 in Gladstone. This yearly fundraiser for the Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer Foundation includes a 5K, 10K, and a 1 mile Family Fun Walk. The course takes you through the city of Gladstone and along the scenic Clackamas River. Hosted by Team Latus Motors Harley-Davidson, this event is always hopping. The morning includes Harley riders, the Rose City Rollers, the Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers and radio’s kink.fm.

The festive atmosphere does not take away from the seriousness of the foundation’s mission.  “The SHOC Foundation is a multifaceted fund-raising organization. In addition to raising funds for ovarian cancer research at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), the SHOC Foundation also works to increase public awareness about the disease and connecting survivors with the resources to assist them on their journey. The Foundation primarily serves women in the greater Portland area, but is always available for guidance to anyone coping with gynecologic cancer regardless of their location.” All proceeds from this event are donated to the Gynecologic Research Lab at OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute.

After the race there is a pancake breakfast and an exclusive gynecologic cancer survivor’s breakfast, as well as entertainment.

Both the 5K and 10K are timed, while the 1 mile Family Fun Walk is untimed. The 5K course is slightly long at 3.49 miles, but you will be able to get your 5K split times after the race. Click here to see course maps.
